How long should it take normally for a page/post to be indexed by google?

It’s some larger problem with google that’s been going on for 6 months. Sometimes it’s 10mins and 6 months. Sometimes you think it was indexed, then come back to it later and it wasn’t. There is no standard time from Google. But if your sites internal linking is good and the sitemap is updated properly there is a chance to index fast. No need to worry just create a solitary piece of content. Google will take you personally. 98% of my pages are indexed in 15-20 minutes. 2 out of the last 5 took about 5 days. The more pages, more traffic and better user experience you have, the less time it will take. There’s a theory that new domains are ‘sandboxed’ for a few months. If you’ve recently published your entire site, your general authority will be fairly low, which causes high index times from personal experience.

Depends on your website. If we take BBC News, for example, a new page will probably be in the index in minutes. On Reddit, the average time will be longer due to the sheer volume of posts, with some slipping under the radar entirely. If your website has no authority, we could be talking days, at least without manually submitting URLs. Seems like new sites have been taking a week for the homepage with many interior pages taking up to 6 months. With more established sites, new posts are often indexed in a day. Oddly, manually requesting indexing through GSC doesn’t seem to help much. A lot of requested URLs get crawled and don’t get indexed for months anyways.

If your sitemap is up to date and there’s no blocks you should be okay, but as for indexing hard to say. You can always submit the URL in GSC if you are worried though. If we submit them using the manual submission in the search console, they are usually indexed within 1-2 days, even for new or small sites. If I do not submit them, or only submit them using a sitemap, they can take much longer.
